At Mira Accessories, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from Mira Accessories.

This policy is in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

Information We Collect

Web

When you place an order or create an account, we may collect:

  • Your full name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Delivery address

  • Billing information

  • Order history

We may also collect limited technical information such as your IP address and browsing behaviour through cookies to improve your shopping experience.

Mobile App

When you use the Mira Accessories mobile app, we may additionally collect:

  • Camera access: only when you choose to take a photo for a profile picture or product review. We do not record video or audio.

  • Photo library access: only when you choose to upload a photo from your device for a profile picture or product review.

  • Device information: used for order tracking and app functionality.

Camera and photo access are always initiated by you and are never accessed in the background.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Process and deliver your orders

  • Communicate with you about your purchase

  • Provide customer support

  • Send order confirmations and updates

  • Improve our website and services

  • Send marketing emails (only if you opt in)

We will never sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

Payment Security

All payments are processed through secure, trusted third-party payment providers. Mira Accessories does not store your full card details.

Sharing of Information

We only share necessary information with trusted service providers such as:

  • Courier companies (for delivery)

  • Payment gateways (for secure transactions)

  • Website and hosting providers

  • Wix (wix.com) — e-commerce platform, account management, and data storage

  • The Courier Guy — shipment tracking

These providers are required to protect your information.

Your Rights Under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information

  • Request correction or deletion of your information

  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any time

  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your rights have been violated

Deleting Your Account

You can request permanent deletion of your Mira Accessories account at any time.

  • In the app: open Account → tap "Delete Account". This will direct you to our deletion page.

  • ​On the web:  visit https://www.miraaccessories.co.za/delete-account and submit the form with your registered email address.

  • Within 48 hours of submitting your request, we will send a verification email to the address you provided. Once you confirm, your account and personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

  • What gets deleted: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing addresses, profile information, wishlist, and reviews.

  • What we retain: order records are kept for 5 years to comply with South African tax law (Tax Administration Act, 2011 — section 29). Personal identifiers on these records (name, email, address) are anonymised so the order history cannot be linked back to you.

If you no longer have access to the email address on your account, please contact support@miraaccessories.co.za with proof of identity such as an order number, and we will action your request manually.

How long we keep your data

We hold your personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires.
 

  • Account profile (name, email, phone, addresses, wishlist, reviews)  - Until you delete your account

  • Order records (purchase history, invoices, delivery details) - 5 years from order date — required by South African tax law (Tax Administration Act s.29)

  • Marketing preferences and consent records - Until you opt out, then for a reasonable audit period

  • Server and app logs (IP address, device information, browsing behaviour) - Up to 12 months for security and fraud-prevention purposes, then deleted or anonymised

  • Customer support correspondence - 2 years from the last contact
     

When a retention period ends, we either delete the information or anonymise it so it can no longer be linked back to you.
 

Children's privacy

Mira Accessories is intended for users 18 years of age or older, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact support@miraaccessories.co.za and we will delete it promptly. This aligns with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), section 34.

Cookies

Our website may use cookies to improve your browsing experience and analyse website traffic. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies if you prefer.

Data Protection

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.
